The same broad product family can sit in different regulatory paths depending on what the supplier says it is for. A general mobility accessory, a support intended to alleviate an injury and an active electrotherapy device should not be marketed or sourced as if they were identical.
Begin with the exact intended use
DRAP's medical-device guidance includes products intended for diagnosis, prevention, monitoring, treatment or alleviation of disease, and for treatment, alleviation or compensation for injury. So collect the product label, instructions, promotional claims, user group and proposed destination-market use before deciding the pathway.
Use a three-gate catalogue
- General sport and fitness: mobility or recovery products without clinical claims
- Intended-use review: supports, compression, tape, heat or cold products where claims may change classification
- Medical-device gate: active electrotherapy, therapeutic ultrasound and other products clearly intended for treatment or injury-related use
Verify the product and establishment route
For a device-gated product, confirm the legal manufacturer, exact model, intended use, classification rationale, technical and quality evidence, labelling, registration or enlistment route, and the establishment responsibilities applicable to manufacturer, importer or other operator.
Destination requirements may differ, so a Pakistan pathway does not replace review for the buyer's market.
Write claims conservatively
Use supportable product descriptions and avoid guarantees of recovery, pain relief, injury prevention or clinical performance. HGT's commercial role is to coordinate a controlled product and evidence route; it is not presented as a physiotherapy provider, regulator or clinical adviser.
Official sources
These sources support the market or regulatory context. Supplier capability still requires product-level verification.
This guide provides general commercial education. Product-specific technical, legal and regulatory requirements should be confirmed for the selected product and destination market.
