1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text records a website or service places in a browser. Similar technologies can include local storage, pixels and software development kits. They may support security, preferences, measurement or advertising depending on how they are configured.
2. Current use
HGT does not set cookies for advertising, cross-site tracking, personalisation or HGT-controlled analytics. The one cookie the site does set is a session cookie from Supabase Auth, created only if you choose to sign in — it keeps you signed in between pages and visits so your order history is available without signing in again each time. It is not used for tracking or advertising, and it is removed when you sign out. Nothing is set if you don't sign in.
The shopping cart uses browser local storage — a similar technology to a cookie, not a cookie itself — to remember which products you've added between pages on this device. Nothing about your cart is sent anywhere until you submit it as a quote request at checkout, and no cookie is used to do that submission; it is a direct request from your browser to our server, not a stored, ongoing session.
3. Essential hosting technology
The hosting or security platform may use limited technical information or strictly necessary technology to deliver pages, balance traffic, prevent abuse, preserve service integrity and diagnose faults. Those functions are controlled by the relevant provider and are not used by HGT for behavioural advertising.
4. Browser controls
Most browsers let users inspect, block and delete cookies or site data. Blocking essential technology can affect security or page operation. Browser help pages explain the controls for each device and browser.
5. Future changes
If HGT later adds accounts, catalogue access, analytics, chat, advertising or embedded services, this notice will identify the technology, provider, purpose and duration. Consent choices will be made available before non-essential technology runs where applicable.
